What does it do to you when you can&#8217;t be who you are because of conformism or social pressure? I know from experience how difficult that can be. How you can struggle to be yourself, to follow your own path. And in these troubled times, non-conformism is increasingly rejected. As a result, suffocating and fearful feelings are evoked and experienced. In my work I look for recognition of this. I want to show and feel how unpleasant and intense it can be. The recognition can also give comfort or strength. I make my work from prints of my body and body parts. When I make a mold I evoke the feelings I want to portray. This makes them visible in the casts. I multiply, combine and deform them into sculptures and installations. Usually they are not finished smoothly and have frayed edges. For me, that symbolizes the rawness of the feelings represented.     <\/p>\n<p>Here you can see me at work in my studio. My place, where I feel completely at home. Where I have all the freedom to make what I want to make, to be who I want to be.<\/p>\n<p>There is nothing more wonderful than retreating to this space and getting my hands dirty with plaster, clay, wax and other materials. To give form to the stories that live in me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Hoofdtekst\">I like to experiment with new materials. And preferably so that I can figure out how to use it in a way it is not actually intended for. After all, that&#8217;s what produces the best surprises. For me, those are the most interesting. In the studio, I enjoy not having everything under control, but discovering things through play, seeing work emerge and being touched by the meaning of the sculptures themselves.<\/p>\n<p>I hold open house every 2nd Saturday of the month: studio and gallery are open then.<\/p>\n<p>But you are also welcome in between!
