Arjan Roos
June 14 and 15 Arjan Roos exhibits photography in the gallery.
The photographs of Arjan Roos are not created project by project, but gradually, by collecting images. Wherever he is, his eye and mind are unexpectedly touched by something and an intuitive process of recording follows. When he later looks at the collected pictures and compares them, the connection becomes clear. Material can linger for weeks, months and sometimes years before the day arrives when it merges into a whole.
Themes include organic forms in nature, such as the whimsical order in the appearances of trees. But also clean lines and planes from architecture. The human environment versus free, or wild nature.
One image breathes tranquility and rhythm, while the next, chaotic, expresses the unpredictable. By omitting, or looking at distortion, rebound and reflection, Arjan tries to find a balance in his photographs between the constantly intruding delusion of the day and inner peace. Even the chaotic-looking work is in fact about complete stillness.
