Feb. 7 and 8: Marjan Kok with still lifes in oil paint

Feb. 7 and 8, Marjan Kok of Epe is exhibiting at the gallery with still life paintings in oil.

After years of painting with acrylic, Marjan recently switched to oil paint.

That took some getting used to, but now she enjoys the pastiness of the paint and the intense colors.

At the same time, a new theme has entered her work. Marjan has created a lot of work that focuses on people. For example, she has painted family portraits. But also playing children, the vulnerable human being in vulnerable nature and the forgotten human being.

Still lifes, that is the new theme. She composes these works from photographs taken of, for example, oysters, mussels, shrimp, lemons and wine glasses.

From different parts, Marjan makes a composition as the start of a painting, looking carefully at color and light.

These are paintings where fun and life splashes from, through the fresh use of color, subjects and chosen perspective. You feel like sitting down to eat and drink with them.

This new series will be on display at the gallery on Feb. 7 and 8.
