What you perceive always depends on what you are looking at. Just like memories, which are colored in part by the present moment.
In her drawings, Esther Kaal explores the whimsical manifestations of nature. Observations of daily walks through the woods, trips on the road bike and vistas she sees from the driving car are the triggers that precede drawing. The work often has a semblance of movement that reflects the power of nature and at the same time the tranquility that emanates from nature.
Happy coincidence certainly plays a role in her search for contrast between harmony and tension. The result of the research is often series from which new series emerge.
